A Clear Vision: Looking at Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Today – A Conversation with Author Preston Love, Jr.
Acclaimed author, professor, and long-term activist Preston Love, Jr. will discuss Clear Vision, the follow-up book to his groundbreaking Economic Cataracts: A Chronicle of Efforts to Remove the Obstacles of Urban Community Engagement and Economic, Inclusion. We will explore his unique approach to building Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the nonprofit he founded, the Institute for Urban Development (4urban.org), including a look at community engagement, economic and leadership growth, and his other organization, Black Votes Matter. The manager for Jesse Jackson's 1984 presidential campaign, Love will also reflect on his recently published Jackson Papers, his children's book Your Bridge to History, and his annual Black History Tour, all in conversation with Jefferson Educational Society Vice President Ben Speggen.
A former Nebraska Cornhusker football player (recent inductee: Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame), IBM pioneer marketing executive, micro-computer historic innovator (Opened Atlanta’s first retail computer store, 1980), groundbreaking political mogul (organized and ran Jesse Jackson’s campaign for President 1984), gospel soloist, playwright (wrote and performs as Adam Clayton Powell, a one-man performance), stage performer, newspaper columnist (Omaha Star column Black Votes Matter), lecturer, and University of Nebraska Omaha Adjunct Professor (teaches black politics and political science), Mr. Love Jr. is the author of Economic Cataracts. He is also the originator and force behind the Black Votes Matter initiative.
Preston Love, Jr., brings the wisdom derived from his life experiences, his crusade, and community activism for economic inclusion to his work. Preston, who is the president of the men in his church, Antioch COGIC, gives all honor to Jesus Christ. Married to Martha, his spiritual leader, and his best supporter.
