East Erie Satellite: Examining the State of Erie's Economy: A Look at Disparities, Trends, and Future Prospects

Join Dr. Ken Louie, director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie at Penn State Behrend, as he gives an overview of the Erie economy – where we've been, where we are, and where we might be heading. This presentation will reveal the trends in the local economy, including job recovery data – and how they compare to the state and national economies. He will also look at what the economic disparities reveal and imagine the potential economic gains and impact to be achieved from greater equity and inclusion.

Ken Louie, Ph.D.

Dr. Louie is Director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie (ERIE) and Associate Professor of Economics in the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend. He received his B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His areas of specialization are macroeconomics, international economics, the economics of labor markets, and the economy of China. As director of ERIE, Dr. Louie has provided analysis and commentary on issues related to the Erie economy for local and national news media.
