Through mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement, the organization aim to build a network of future leaders who are equipped to break barriers and reach their full potential. Join Destiny of Our Daughters Founder Shateria Franklin as she explores the organization's mission and impact stories, and tells how she and her team are shaping the future one daughter at a time.

Founder, Destiny of Our Daughters Inc.

Shateria Franklin, B.A., is a dynamic leader, advocate, and visionary dedicated to empowering young women of color to achieve their full potential. As the founder of Destiny of Our Daughters Inc., Shateria has made it her mission to address systemic inequities by fostering leadership, education, and self-confidence in the next generation of changemakers. Her work is deeply rooted in her belief that every young woman deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the barriers they may face. 

 

A proud graduate of Gannon University, Shateria combines her academic foundation with a wealth of professional experience. She currently serves as the Community School Director for Erie High, where she leads initiatives to support students, families, and educators through strategic partnerships and community engagement. Previously, she worked as the Assistant Grant Administrator for the City of Erie Economic and Community Development Department, where she helped monitor funding to advance impactful local projects. In addition to her nonprofit and professional endeavors, Shateria is also a successful entrepreneur and owner of Materialistic Boutique, a business that reflects her passion for creativity and empowerment. 

 

Shateria’s dedication to uplifting her community has been widely recognized. She was honored as a recipient of the Women Making History 2024 award by the Mercy Center for Women, was named one of Erie Reader's 40 Under 40 in 2023, and received the Erie’s Black Wall Street Best Author award in 2023. Her remarkable contributions also earned her the Alpha Kappa Alpha Community Spirit Award and the HER POWER Rising Mogul and Community Service Award, both in 2023. 

 

Under her leadership, Destiny of Our Daughters Inc. has partnered with schools, nonprofits, and businesses to deliver impactful workshops, mentorship programs, and leadership training tailored to the unique needs of young women of color. Her work has helped countless participants excel academically, develop their personal and professional goals, and grow into confident, resilient leaders. 

 

Beyond her organizational efforts, Shateria is and mother of 3, an active speaker and volunteer, addressing topics such as diversity and inclusion, mentorship, and the transformative power of education. She continues to inspire and uplift her community, proving that with vision and action, real change is possible.
