Twenty-Four Years in Service: Understanding the Impact of the Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network

Join Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJNN) staff members Patrice Swick and Susannah Faulkner for a discussion covering the mission, programs, and impact of the Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network. Founded in 2000 as an outreach ministry of the SSJ of NWPA, SSJNN serves neighbors from Cranberry Street to the Bayfront Connector, between 12th to 26th streets. SSJNN is a community and economic development organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living in this urban core of the city, suffering from decades of blight, high poverty, and low educational opportunities. With community partners and hundreds of dedicated volunteers, SSJNN has carried out a range of initiatives that exhibit its capacity to impact lasting change.

Susannah Faulkner, MPA and Patrice Swick, MPA 

 

Susannah Faulkner, M.P.A., is an artist, advocate, and community leader currently serving as Director of Development at the SSJ Neighborhood Network. Her career and studies have taken her from Erie to New York, Colorado, England, Ireland, and California, with a return in the fall of 2020. Susannah received a BA in Politics from Ithaca College and an MPA from the London School of Economics. In 2023, she became the first woman appointed to Erie City Council and championed three pieces of legislation in the one-year term. She is a graduate of the JES Civic Leadership Academy and Raimy Fellowship.

 

 

Patrice Swick, M.P.A., started as the Neighborhood Engagement Specialist with the SSJ Neighborhood Network in June 2023. In this role, she works closely with community partners, businesses, neighborhood groups, and local government to implement the organization’s mission of revitalizing neighborhoods and empowering its people. She holds a BS in Business Administration and an MPA both from Gannon University. She served for five years as the Director of the Social Justice and Life Office with Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Erie. Before that she was a Jesuit Volunteer living and working in Tanzania.
