Geoff Dunn, a native of Erie, received a BA in religion at Haverford College and his surgical training with the Harvard Surgical Service, New England Deaconess Hospital. His surgical experience included trauma, burns, pediatrics, and cancer in this country and overseas. He was Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Hamot Medical Center before working full time in the field of palliative and hospice care with Great Lakes Hospice and at UPMC Hamot Medical Center. Since 1997 he has educated surgeons nationally and internationally about palliative care. He is currently board-certified in general surgery and hospice/palliative medicine. Dr. Dunn is currently a member of the Department of Surgery and Medical Director of the Palliative Care Consultation Service at UPMC Hamot. He has previously served on the Board of Governors, American College of Surgeons and is Chair of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Surgical Palliative Care.
