Shannan Mattiace is an associate professor of Political Science at Allegheny College and Chair of the International Studies Program. Mattiace earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Texas, Austin in 1998 and has received grants from the Fulbright Commission and the Rockefeller Foundation for research and study in Mexico. She has been teaching at Allegheny since 1999. Her research and teaching interests are in the field of comparative politics, focused on Latin America. Mattiace has published two books and numerous scholarly articles on ethnic identity and political mobilization in Mexico, on labor relations and economic history in Yucatan, Mexico, and on Mexican and Latin American social movements. She is currently working on Yucatecan immigration to the United States.
