Janet Moore Lindman, Ph.D., is professor and chair of the History Department at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in History at the University of Minnesota. She is the author of Bodies of Belief: Baptist Community in Early America (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2008) and co-editor of “A Centre of Wonders”: The Body in Early America (Cornell University Press, 2001). Her most recent book is entitled A Vivifying Spirit: Quaker Practice and Reform in Antebellum America (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2022).
