Programming at the Jefferson Educational Society

The Jefferson Educational Society offers different programs during the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Some of the past and current programs include the Global Summit, Metro 100, Brock Institute Lectures, Community Conversations, Jefferson Satellite programs, and other special programs.

Programming has been a cornerstone of the Jefferson Educational Society since its beginning. From the launch of the annual Global Summit, which itself grew from a two-and-half day series to one spread over six weeks, to the total of annual events to over 100, to the launch of the Satellite Programming initiative throughout Erie County, to the more than 200 digital programs livestreamed and broadcasted to the public during the pandemic and ongoing, JES programming continues to expand in an effort to make our events more accessible to the community in new ways.

JES has engaged the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to provide an Advisory Services panel

The Erie Downtown Development Corporation (EDDC), in partnership with Erie Insurance, the City of Erie, the Erie Community Foundation, and the Jefferson Educational Society, has engaged the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to provide an Advisory Services panel, which began Sunday, July 29. This panel team will focus on strategies for the development of the EDDC and the surrounding downtown area to complement the continued implementation efforts of key recommendations outlined in Erie Refocused: A Comprehensive Plan and Community Decision Making Guide.

ULI is a nonprofit education and research organization that fosters and encourages high standards of land use planning and development. Established in 1936, ULI is recognized as one of North America's most respected and widely quoted sources of objective information on urban planning, growth, and development. The members of this panel have been selected from the ULI membership for their expertise relevant to the problems and opportunities facing this project. All panel members donate their time, effort, and expertise to the Advisory Services program as a personal contribution to further the Institute's work and objectives.

To hear the panelists’ initial report based on their research and findings from the interviews, we would like to invite you to the report presentation Friday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. at the Erie Insurance Auditorium, located at 100 Erie Insurance Place, Erie, PA 16530.

Guaranteed seating will be on a first-come, first served basis.

All of those involved hope that you will be able to participate in this important and exciting project!
