Programming at the Jefferson Educational Society

The Jefferson Educational Society offers different programs during the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Some of the past and current programs include the Global Summit, Metro 100, Brock Institute Lectures, Community Conversations, Jefferson Satellite programs, and other special programs.

Programming has been a cornerstone of the Jefferson Educational Society since its beginning. From the launch of the annual Global Summit, which itself grew from a two-and-half day series to one spread over six weeks, to the total of annual events to over 100, to the launch of the Satellite Programming initiative throughout Erie County, to the more than 200 digital programs livestreamed and broadcasted to the public during the pandemic and ongoing, JES programming continues to expand in an effort to make our events more accessible to the community in new ways.

Perry 200 Grand Patriotic Parade

ERIE, PA. – November 27, 2012 – The Perry 200 Commemoration will celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory in the Battle of Lake Erie with a Grand Patriotic Parade on Saturday, May 25th, 2013 at 1:00 PM. An informational dinner meeting for groups interested in participating in this spectacular parade will be held at the Jefferson Educational Society, 3207 State Street, Erie, PA on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Modeled after Erie’s infamous “Parade of the Century” during the Bicentennial Celebration of 1995, this parade will feature marching bands and drum corps, military units, countless floats, local ethnic and non-profit groups, and giant balloons. Erie’s history, including in the War of 1812, will be illustrated in this historic parade. The 1.8 mile parade route is from 12th and Cherry Street to 3rd and State Street.

The informational dinner meeting on December 11th will announce crucial details such as registration for float building clinics in January, applications for float grants, and parade registration information.

Reservations are required for this free dinner meeting. To RSVP, please call the Jefferson Educational Society at 814-459-8000. For information on other Perry 200 Commemoration events, please visit www.Perry200.com, e-mail info@jeserie.org, or call the Jefferson Educational Society.
