Programming at the Jefferson Educational Society

The Jefferson Educational Society offers different programs during the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Some of the past and current programs include the Global Summit, Metro 100, Brock Institute Lectures, Community Conversations, Jefferson Satellite programs, and other special programs.

Programming has been a cornerstone of the Jefferson Educational Society since its beginning. From the launch of the annual Global Summit, which itself grew from a two-and-half day series to one spread over six weeks, to the total of annual events to over 100, to the launch of the Satellite Programming initiative throughout Erie County, to the more than 200 digital programs livestreamed and broadcasted to the public during the pandemic and ongoing, JES programming continues to expand in an effort to make our events more accessible to the community in new ways.

Perry 200 Grand Patriotic Parade Float Grant Awards Presentation

ERIE, PA. – February 28, 2013 – The Perry 200 Commemoration will celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory in the Battle of Lake Erie with a Grand Patriotic Parade on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 1:00 PM.

The Perry 200 Commemoration, realizing that not all groups wishing to build a float would be able to raise the necessary funds to do so, decided to offer smaller grants from $200 to $500 to non-profit and ethnic groups who demonstrated their ideas and illustrated good leadership abilities to complete the project. The Perry 200 Parade Committee has carefully reviewed 22 float grant applications from these organizations, and will announce the first round of awards at a media event at the Jefferson Educational Society, located at 3207 State Street, on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Representatives from each organization will be invited to attend the event to collect their grant check.

The Perry 200 Commemoration is still accepting general parade applications for all organizations interested in participating in the Grand Patriotic Parade until April 1, 2013. Additionally, businesses wishing to sponsor a large helium balloon in the parade and volunteers to assist on the day of the event are being sought. For further information on these opportunities please call Dan Mucci, Perry 200 Coordinator, at the Jefferson Educational Society at 814-459-8000 or through e-mail at Mucci@jeserie.org. Interested organizations and volunteers can also submit an online application at www.Perry200.com/parade.

For more information on this Grand Patriotic Parade, or other Perry 200 Commemoration events, please visit www.Perry200.com, e-mail info@perry200.com, or call the Jefferson Educational Society.
