Programming at the Jefferson Educational Society

The Jefferson Educational Society offers different programs during the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Some of the past and current programs include the Global Summit, Metro 100, Brock Institute Lectures, Community Conversations, Jefferson Satellite programs, and other special programs.

Programming has been a cornerstone of the Jefferson Educational Society since its beginning. From the launch of the annual Global Summit, which itself grew from a two-and-half day series to one spread over six weeks, to the total of annual events to over 100, to the launch of the Satellite Programming initiative throughout Erie County, to the more than 200 digital programs livestreamed and broadcasted to the public during the pandemic and ongoing, JES programming continues to expand in an effort to make our events more accessible to the community in new ways.

ERIE, PA. (July 26, 2013) – The Erie Times-News and the Perry 200 Commemoration have teamed up to present the Perry Burns Contest, which was launched on July 1st.

Interested residents of Erie County can submit a photo of their Oliver Hazard Perry-like burns by an extended deadline of August 1, 2013. Those interested can register at GoErie.com at http://www.goerie.com/perryburns.

A panel of judges will trim the entries to a group of finalists. These finalists will be invited to a final judging event being held at the Brewerie, 123 West 14th Street, on Wednesday, August 7 from 7 PM until 9 PM. The judges will vote for their favorite Oliver Hazard Perry-like burns.

After the final judging occurs, each of the finalists will receive grooming services from Panache Salon to return back to their original look. One grand-prize winner will receive $300 donated to the local 501(c)(3) charity of their choice. A check will be presented at Perry’s Birthday Party on August 23, which is scheduled from noon to 2 PM, at Perry Square.
